Finally feeling better

by Liadan Brodie on 11/12/11

Yes, I'm still alive after the con and I have pictures.  Didn't get the Dr. Who with Amy and Riversong though.  (sad face)  But I went from being just a staff member to being co-assistant of Industry Relations in three days.  Oh and I got the job of being the handler for jrockhouse.com next year.  Make sure to check them out.

Did get the chance to see BORN both nights and they are so awesome.  K is just too cute and both nights I was right up front in front of him.  Ryo (vocalist) is just amazing live.  They all are to be truthful.  If you ever get the chance to see this band live, don't pass it by, go, see them, buy their cd's.  Completely worth it.

Met Erin from Tainted Reality and Jack of All Trades productions.  She is an awesome lady and just all around sweet.  Glad to have had the chance to meet her.  Hopefully can go to another con and meet up with her again, before next years Nekocon that is.

Okay, so here are the pictures and yes, I did get my BORN poster signed by the group.  (Happy dance) The first five pics are obviously the members of BORN.

Schedule for Nekocon

by Liadan Brodie on 10/29/11

So I just got the schedule for Neko and I am very pleased with it.  I'll be working early mornings with the morning Japanese translator so it should be an interesting experience.  I am really looking forward to this and pray that I will be working for Neko for years to come.  Trust me, I'll be blogging about it, hopefully with lots of pictures, after the con.  Of course I'll be really busy during the con as there will be other departments that will need help and I've volunteered to help them as well.  For those of you who wish to know more about the con, the link is listed below.

I hope everyone has a safe and warm weekend.  If you are among those getting snow, bundle up and take care.

I'm Back and I'm Tired.

by Liadan Brodie on 10/25/11

I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend and great Monday.

I have some news and updates.  First off, updates...How do you like the new design of the website?  I think it is more fitting of my personality.  ^__^

Now the news, I'll warn you now, it's not good.  I have always been proud of my finished stories.  I've put so many hours into writing them and then to have them published is a dream come true, that goes for any author.  We brag to our family and friends and have them go to the website or bookstore to buy five copies.

As an author, once you sign the contract with the publishing company, you have no rights to your work for a set number of years, mine have all been three years.  Once those years are up, the publisher is legally bound to return your work to you unless you have signed another contract with them. Then there are times when you hit a major snag.  Such as I have...

I had wondered how my book with one of my publishers was doing and have sent off several emails to her.  I received no reply.  Just this past Sunday evening I found out, quite by accident mind you, that the publisher had gone under and the entire staff had walked out during the summer.  So now my story is stuck with this publisher because she refuses to return the rights to the authors who published with her.

That is how my weekend ended.  So now I am focusing on one book and making it great so I can publish with someone else.  Yes, it is a hit or miss with publishers.  One minute they are the best in the world and the next they are taking the money they owe you and are going on vacation.

It's late, I'm tired and it's only Tuesday.  Have a wonderful week, take care of yourselves and happy birthday to those who were born this week.

Have a question for everyone!

by Liadan Brodie on 10/20/11

I have friends in other countries and just going off topic of writing and other things, I began to think about it today.  Should I post my stories in different languages as well?  It would make some people happy to be able to read them in their native language.  If you think this is a good idea or simply have an opinion about it, comment on this blog and let me know.

Happy Birthday to all who were born today!  The weather is getting colder, take care of yourselves.

Sorry have been absent.

Hello!  Things have been hectic lately and it looks like they will be that way through the first weekend in November.

So here's a quick run down, for the rest of October, I will be busy with work, writing and helping my daughter with her cosplay for Nekocon.  Every weekend until then, I'll be taking her and her friends either shopping for items or helping all with outfits.  Weekend of Nekocon, I will be volunteering at the con as Industry Relations, I'll be sitting with dealers in the dealers room and helping out with their booths.  I'll be free in the evenings which means I'll be able to see the Visual Kei artist, BORN, which is the reason I wanted to go to the con to begin with.

Happy Birthday to all who were born today!  Take care of your health and I'll see you soon.
